Warning Signs

When You Need a New Sump Pump in La Crosse

La Crosse sits near the Mississippi River. That means lots of homes have high water tables. Homes in French Island and low streets near the river see more pump failures. Spring snowmelt pushes groundwater up fast. An old or small pump can't keep up. We've also seen pumps fail during summer storms. Heavy rain can overwhelm a weak system. If your pump runs all the time, it might be failing. If it makes grinding noises, that's bad news. If it's 7 to 10 years old, don't wait. A flood could hit soon. The right pump, installed well, matters a lot.[1]

Common Situations

New Build or Finished Basement

If you're finishing a basement, we install the pump before drywall goes up. This protects your work from day one.

Old or Failing Pump

Pumps over 10 years old can fail soon. We swap them out before you get a wet basement.

Frequent Basement Flooding

If water keeps showing up after storms, your pump may be too small or missing a backup.

French Island Water Table Issues

Homes near the river often need stronger pumps that run more. We size them for your real needs, not a guess.

Battery Backup Needed

Power outages happen a lot here during storms. A battery backup keeps your pump running when the lights go out.

Noisy or Cycling Pump

A pump that turns on and off too much wears out fast. We check it before it quits for good.

Recently moved into a new home and called this team for some (minor) plumbing fixes. Several of these issues were more intensive than expected, and I'd like to thank them for not only being willing to fix several things in one day, but for their excellent service the entire time! The one who helped me out explained everything and answered all my questions, and I'll be calling them in the future for additional fixes!

This was the second satisfactory job that was done by Advanced Plumbing for me. The first was a large job replacing my sewer system under the basement floor! A shocking discovery for me but handled professionally and seamlessly by their crew. I was very pleased and confident with the work done. They were very patient and willing to explain the details I wanted.
My second experience was not as complicated as I thought it may have been. I thought I had a leaking bathroom pipe. I was pleased to be told it was just a leaking hose into my refrigerator ice machine. Problem corrected within an hour!
I love these guys! I don't really want to see them again but I know the job will be done correctly if I need them.

We had a great experience with the plumbers who worked in our home, Jack and Richie. They were professional, respectful, and really listened to what we wanted. They took the time to make sure everything was done right, kept the work area clean, and were a pleasure to have in our home. We had them replace two shower valves and fixtures, and two drains. Their attention to detail and excellent customer service were greatly appreciated. We would recommend this company and especially appreciate the outstanding work done by Jack and Richie!

Common Questions

Sump Pump Install Questions

Here are answers to what La Crosse homeowners ask us most.

  • How much does sump pump install cost in La Crosse?

Most installs cost $600 to $2,200. It depends on pump size and setup. Homes near the river may need bigger pumps. We give you a free same-day quote first.

  • How long does a sump pump install take?

Most installs take 3 to 5 hours with existing plumbing. New basin jobs can take longer. We'll tell you the time during your free quote.

  • Can I put in a sump pump myself?

You can, but wiring and sizing mistakes happen a lot. A wrong-sized pump can fail when you need it most. Our installers are ASSE-certified and know our local water issues.

  • How often should you swap a sump pump?

Most pumps last 7 to 10 years. Homes near French Island with high water tables may need one sooner. We check your pump's age at every visit.

  • How fast can you install a pump in an emergency?

We offer same-day help when your pump fails and water rises. Call us right away, and we'll move fast. Even a few hours can bring big damage.

  • What signs show my sump pump is failing?

Listen for grinding noises or nonstop running. Rust or a pump over 10 years old is a bad sign too. Call us before it fails for good.

  • Do I need a battery backup for my pump?

Yes, if your area loses power during storms. La Crosse gets plenty of summer storms. A battery backup keeps your pump going when the power dies.
